Have you ever wondered what makes your window go up and down? The window regulator is the one responsible for such moving up and down movements. This motor regulator is the ones allowing you to raise and lower the window glass whenever you want to. The window regulators are divided into two main types:
- The manual one, when you will use the hand crank to operate the whole movement
- The automatic one, when you press a certain button or switch to open and close the window
Today’s vehicles are using the automatic regulators because they don’t need to waste efforts and energy to open and close the windows. Because of efficient and effective reasons, today’s automatic regulators are mostly used. After all, consumers can be put off when they find out that the ride they want is still using the manual regulator.
The Windshield Frame
As the name suggests, it is the frame that is holding the windshield spot on to the structure. Without the frame – a solid structure where attachment happens - your windshield won’t hold. In some countries, windshield is called as windscreen – because it is always installed on the front to withstand the wind – is generally made from laminated safety glass that comprises of typically two curved glass sheets topped off with laminated plastic layer for better safety. These glasses are usually attached to the window frame, creating solid and tough barrier for improved safety and also comfort for the interior cabin and the passengers.
The Window Glass
As it was mentioned before, window glass needs to be solid and sturdy, so choosing the one with solid and tough structure will help. Window glass comes in two main types: the laminated glass and the tempered glass. Laminated glass is generally used for the windshield, while the tempered glass is generally installed for the back and side windows. However, it is now possible to have laminated tempered glass for the back and side windows for better safety and protection. Car manufacturers will insert this thin film layer between the glass layers and then fuse them all via pressure and heat. It will increase the glass’ strength and solid structure.
